There was an awful lot of oil staining on this Victorian floor restoration project in Blythe Bridge Staffordshire. The floor pattern made good use of some distinctive encaustic tiles along with a good use of colour that lent themselves very well to our colour enhancing sealers.

Our first task was to strip away all the previous coating or sealers, this would allow us to reach the real dirt and staining.

Once the floor was deep cleaned, a breathable impregnating sealer was applied before finally finish off with a hard wearing satin polish; breathable of course.

A wonderful example of Victorian tiled hallway flooring in Shenstone Staffordshire. This Victorian flooring was originally manufactured by Malkin Edge and laid around 1870. Overall the original areas of the floor were in very good condition with a few newer additions that have been added during the buildings renovation process.

A quaint little Victorian hallway in Barton-Under-Needwood Staffordshire which was in need of cleaning. This Victorian floor had seen a lot of traffic and many different coverings over the last 100+ years. At one stage the tiles had vinyl tiles applied to them, later on carpet and laminate which is shame as the floor holds such a lot of character.

We found the floor to be pretty badly stained with old oils and etched with solvent glues, there was also a lot of deep staining from solvent paint that had been partially removed with white spirit.

Our process was to deep clean the floor and remove as much staining as physically possible and provide protection with one of our hard wearing satin seals.

This is by far one of most beautiful Victorian floors we’ve seen, the use of colours, encaustic tiles and shapes is simply wonderful. The tiles are original Victorian Craven Dunnill tiles with very few loose or damaged tiles in the floor.

Naturally there was a few stains left over from the 130+ years the floor has been down, but overall free from any major disasters. We stripped any remaining polishes and patches of wax. Deep cleaned the floor with our unique neutral products and finally finished the floor with breathable sealer and satin finish.

This herringbone floor in Alsager Staffordshire had a few signs of the surface polish and sealer below degrading due to damp. The oleo-resinous seal was very old, discoloured and in the majority of areas broken down.

Using our new eco friendly neutral chemicals, neither the polish or sealer posed much of a problem and once removed the floor was fully deep cleaned.

To finish the floor we used our new breathable satin sealer to enhance the colours and protect the tiles from wear. No one has a sealer tougher than this.

This simply stunning Victorian tiled hallway in Stoke-on-Trent had a huge array of contaminants absorbed into the clay body, which had until we arrived resisted all cleaning products thrown at it; including brick acid!!

Naturally we saw the potential to restore this floor back to its glory and accepted the challenge to scrub this Victorian hall floor back to life.

We had to tackle general traffic dirt, oil, wax, paint, sealer and soap residues. And with the exception of a few really deep absorbed oil stains we managed to remove pretty much the majority of dirt and debris.

An Edwardian tiled hallway consisting of 3″ octagons (plus variations) with 1″ squares. The floor had been under carpet for many years and absorbed a good deal of the underlay colour over those year. The floor had also been treated badly by central heating contractors at some stage where they had literally smashed their way through the floor. There were an awful lot of loose areas which we had to re-fix as well as repairing the main pipe run.

After a thorough deep clean, the floor was sealed and a gloss polish applied.
