We often come across various types of adhesive that have been used to glue down grippers, threshold strips, underlay and carpet.

While some are merely a spray tack and easily removed with a good scrubbing, there are contact adhesives that actually bleach or stain the tiles they are adhered to and removing such an adhesive requires a more powerful solvent.

Often when these contact adhesives are removed there will be signs of where the adhesive once was, this can be abraded away but in doing so risk damaging the tiles surface, the signs can be masked with colour enhancing sealers.

But no matter how much of a pain adhesive may be, it is still preferable than when fool hammers masonry nails straight through antique border tiles.
