From an 1850′s house in Erdington Birmingham, this Victorian Minton floor was in need of a serious makeover after the rest of the hallway had be redecorated.

We first started by removing the old polishes that had accumulated on the floor, this allowed us to get to the dirt below and to tackle some of the moveable stains. Some of the tiles where deeply dished from wear and it was necessary to tackle these by hand to remove as much of the dirt from the exposed porous tile body as physically possible.

Finally the floor was sealed with our new breathable sealers and a breathable satin finish. It is worth noting that these finishes are incredibly tough, far tougher than any competitors emulsion polish.

A nice Edwardian tiled hallway laid in a chequerboard style. This was another floor that had previously been under carpet. We had to remove adhesive, paint and plaster residue from the tiles and grout lines.

Once fully cleaned a high gloss polish was applied to the floor, like all our finishes this polish non-slop, hard wearing and easy to maintain.

This Victorian tiled floor had originally been trapped beneath a carpet for many years. We found a huge amount of dirt and contaminants to remove before the floor would look its best.

And as the floor is huge it was a miracle we completed the work in a day; including cutting out old concrete, laying a new substrate and tiles.

We enriched the colours and finish of the floor tiles with a quality sealer and finally a satin polish.

We also cleaned and sealed the pammets beneath the stairs, unfortunately we didn’t have time to photograph these.

This Victorian tiled hallway in Birmingham was laid in a herringbone design with tiles from Craven Dunnill. And as you can see the tiles were covered with our most loathed of coverings; shellac varnish. The varnish had really soaked into the tiles, removing this was never going to be easy. But we managed in the end.

There was also a section that was covered with vinyl tiles securely fixed with F Ball tile adhesive which luckily doesn’t bleach the tiles like evostik does.

Once cleaned, we sealed and polished the floor to a rich satin finish.

This herringbone tile floor in Harborne needed a deep clean and a good seal to draw out those lustrous Victorian tile floor colours. After removing remnants of old polish and some ingrained dirt we set about cleaning away the cement residues that has collected in the pores of the tiles over the years.

As you can see our new Platinum sealer has increased the colour levels quite substantially. There’s a subtle satin gloss shine, so it looks like it is clean without looking too shiny.
