Minton Floor Restoration Quorn Loughborough

A wonderful Minton tiled floor in Quorn Loughborough which had seen quite a degree of substrate movement which resulted in a number of cracked tiles that ran from one side of the floor to the other; these tiles needed to be replaced.

We replaced the original matwells with replica tiles, blending them in with the original floor design.

We removed the remnants of old sealer, paint and plaster then deep cleaned the floor using our new neutral pH cleaner which cuts through the dirt and grime without any harsh alkaline chemicals. The floor was finished off with our premium sealer and a nice satin gloss polish.

Unfortunately we neglected to take ‘before’ photos on this project.

Hi,

The photos are beautiful, well done!

My partner and I have just bought a traditional 1930’s semi detached property in Birstall. In the hallway is wooden laminate flooring. I’d like to take it up to see if the original floor tiles are underneath. How can I do this safely so not to damage the tiles? (should there be some!) I would love to use your services to help restore them to their full glory, but I understand most of them need to remain intact.

Thanks

Annabel

Hi Annabel,

Usually the laminate flooring would have been installed over some kind of insulation matting. This is normally not fixed to the tiles, so there shouldn’t be any problem with damaging the tiles. Obviously take care, just incase they are fixed down.
