Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire
Fabulous marble entrance hall floor in a castle in Lancashire, beautifully composed of Carrera marble and possibly Rojo Alicante marble. Given that the floor was laid around 1880, the marble tiles were in relatively good condition save for some staining caused by wood dye and some very deep score marks.
Great care was taken not to grind too deep when preparing the floor as some tiles where already worn quite thin. We ground and polished floor using only own speciality diamond tooling, no chemicals were used to fake the polish; we are firmly against using chemical polishing powders – we prefer diamonds and craftsmanship.
As the floor was straight in front of some huge double doors the reflection was pretty much impossible to photograph but I’m sure you can see the difference between the before and after shots. We polished the marble floor tiles all the way up to 15000 grit to ensure the highest possible gloss.
The naturally porous marble tiles where sealed with a premium grade impregnating water based sealer that will help protect the floor from further staining whilst allowing the substrate and tiles to breath naturally.
As always, for marble floor polishing your only ‘professional’ choice is Carr Restoration.
